Weleda #CleanerBeauty Campaign

Weleda Cleaner Beauty

This month Weleda are kicking off their #CleanerBeauty Campaign and I’m very excited to let you know that I’m a Weleda Cleaner Beauty Ambassador. I thought I’d put together a little post to let you know what the campaign is all about and what you can do to make your beauty routine that little bit cleaner.

Weleda are launching their campaign to raise awareness of Cleaner Beauty. They believe that clean beauty isn’t all about removing nasty ingredients from products – although that is a good start. To them it’s about a total holistic approach to wellbeing and understanding that beauty isn’t just skin deep. It’s also a belief in the importance of honest, authentic, ethical brand values and working practices. Clean by name, clean by nature!

In light of this Weleda has asked me to talk about my definition of #CleanerBeauty. To me, clean beauty isn’t just about the ingredients in a product either (although that is a big part of it). To me, it’s also about how the products are made and I always take into account animal testing (this is a cruelty free beauty blog after all!). To me, it’s no good having all natural, organic, sustainable products if they are then tested on animals. It doesn’t make much sense to me for a company to endorse clean beauty products if they are tainted with the cries of defenceless animals – personally that’s the most important part to me. When thinking of clean beauty I don’t think many people will think that animal testing comes under that umbrella but it totally does.

Weleda are NATRUE certified, ensuring that they use only clean ingredients in their products. Click here for a handy print out created by Weleda of common harmful ingredients that may be included in your products. I’m challenging you to look through your own products this month and see how many harmful ingredients you can find. It can be really enlightening. They’ve also created a video for the campaign here, so make sure you go and check that out too.

Once you’ve done that you can then look at swapping out your old products (you don’t have to do this all in one go, you can do it as they run out) for #CleanerBeauty products. Brands like Weleda have effective and great quality products, without the harmful ingredients. I’ve personally found that most natural products perform so much better than their chemical counterparts too, as they are much kinder on the skin. If you weren’t sure where to start this little gift set is a great way to try a few different products and find which ones you like best. The Luxury Three Drawer Gift Set * includes a range of mini body lotions, body oils and body washes for you to try, so that you can find your favourites easily without spending a lot of money. Some of my favourite Weleda products are their Almond Sensitive Skin Hand Cream, Berry Red Lip Balm and of course the cult classic Skin Food.

So are you ready to Spring Clean your beauty products? Let me know if you’ll be taking part in the Cleaner Beauty campaign, whether that be swapping products for green alternatives, spreading the word or just educating yourself on what’s in your current moisturiser or cleanser. I’d love to hear your stories and you can join in with the conversation on social media too using the hashtag #CleanerBeauty.
