Summer Make Up Essentials

Summer Make Up

With the heatwave not looking to give in anytime soon, I thought I’d show you what make up products I’ve been using and loving this summer. These are all staples in my routine at the moment and will leave you looking glowy instead of just sweaty! Most of these are pretty new to me, as I’ve picked them up since my pledge to go green and I’m really wondering why I didn’t do it sooner. These products (and most of the clean products I’ve recently picked up) are some of the most amazing products I’ve ever tried in my life and my skin is absolutely loving them. I really wish I’d made the switch sooner and if you’re thinking of doing it I would definitely recommend it. Anyway, onto my summer favourites!

Hynt Beauty Duet Perfecting Concealer in Light – £22.00

My holy grail. OMG I love this product. I actually cannot explain how amazing it is. But I’ll give it a go! Creamy, full coverage, perfect colour match and comes in the cutest packaging. What more could you want? I’ve actually been using this as a concealer/foundation hybrid lately, as foundation is just melting off my face right now. I apply it wherever I need to even out colour (usually my under eyes, nose, chin and any blemishes that pop up) and I only need to apply the tiniest amount. I don’t even need to set it and it lasts all day. A definite favourite of mine!

Summer Make Up SwatchesLeft To Right – Hynt Beauty Concealer & Ere Perez Foundation

Ere Perez Oat Milk Foundation in Honey – £29.00

I must admit that I haven’t been wearing foundation a lot for the last few weeks, but when I have been wearing it this is what’s been on my face. This is a lovely dewy foundation that evens out my skin tone and creates a flawless base. It’s a medium coverage but can easily be built up to a full coverage – which is how I usually wear it. I find that it can stick to dry patches, but that’s nothing that some good skin prep can’t sort out. It’s worth the extra attention beforehand for the amazing dewy skin that it gives me, which is perfect for summer.

Ere Perez Versatile Vanilla Highlighter in Falling Star – £23.00 *

I must admit that I picked this up on a bit of a whim. I thought the colour looked a bit dark online, but I needed a clean highlighter and this was one of the lightest ones – I usually like a white highlighter as they stand out better on my skin. However, when this turned up I was pleasantly surprised. It still looks a little dark in the pan but once on the skin it does lean towards the white side. I find that this is a great texture for a highlighter – it’s cream so it creates a gorgeous glow without looking powdery. It blends really well and almost melts into the skin, leaving an ethereal look behind. I personally like to pat this on my face, so that it doesn’t disturb any make up underneath and it looks amazing!

Summer Make Up Swatches 2Left To Right – Inika Eye Pencil & Ere Perez Highlighter

Inika Certified Organic Eye Pencil in Black Caviar  – £16.00

I love liquid eyeliner. It’s my favourite look. However, hot weather does not love liquid eyeliner. Even my best one ends up smudging and melting by the end of the day, so I reserve it for special occasions in the summer. Instead, I use a pencil eyeliner so that if it smudges in the heat it just adds a smoky effect to the eye. Much easier to get away with! The best natural one I’ve found so far is the Inika Certified Organic Eye Pencil. It is a pure black and goes on super easily. It doesn’t tug at my eyelids and creates a gorgeous intense black line. It does smudge a little in the heat but a quick wipe with your finger or a cotton bud easily cleans up the line again. It also lasts all day, so I don’t need to worry about touch ups.

I’m really experimenting with clean make up products at the moment and I’m loving all the great, new products I’m finding. These are just a few of my favourites right now that make me look like a summer goddess (or at least they try to!). I also have some skincare products that have really fixed my skin for summer and allowed me to be able to just wear concealer most days, but I’ll share those in a different post if that’s of any interest to you? In the meantime if you have any recommendations for clean make up products that I need to try, let me know in the comments below.
