Gallinee is a fairly new brand to me. In fact I’d not heard of them until I was kindly sent these 2 products to try out. I did some research and found out that Gallinee was founded by Marie Drago, a specialist in the skin’s microbiome. It was her discovery of how a prebiotic and probiotic diet affected her gluten intolerance, that made her apply this to skincare too. As a result Gallinee was born. Gallinee have created a patented complex of prebiotics, probiotics and lactic acid to help nourish and support the skin’s good bacteria. The products all have the same pH as the skin, so don’t include ingredients like SLS or soap and they’re specially targeted at sensitive skin.
The Face Mask & Scrub * was the first thing that I was immediately attracted to. I don’t have that many masks and as this one is a scrub too, it really intrigued me. It contains kaolin to purify, lactic acid to hydrate and soften and of course prebiotics to feed the skin’s good bacteria and help to support the skin’s barrier. I’ve used this both ways over the last few weeks and have had positive experiences. As a scrub it’s the perfect texture to give the skin a really good exfoliation, but it’s not too sharp or harsh on the skin. I’ve been using this twice a week and my skin always looks fresh and radiant afterwards. Once a week I’ve been leaving it on for the full five minutes and then rinsing off with warm water. This allows the ingredients to work a little longer on your skin and I always feel really refreshed afterwards. If you like a gentle exfoliator then this may not be for you as the particles are quite big and you can definitely feel them scrubbing away at your skin. I personally like that though, as it means I can feel it shredding off that top layer of skin and I like to feel the new layer come through. It feels like I’ve been reborn again (well not quite, but you get the idea!).
With the Body Milk * I was actually pretty surprised at how much I liked this. Not that I’d expected not to, but if you’ve read my blog before then you’ll know that I’m not great with body products – they’re more effort than face products and I forget to use them half the time. However, I’ve been using this pretty religiously over the past few weeks. It includes prebiotics, like the face scrub & mask, but also contains probiotics to support the microbiome. With bogbean extract to reinforce collagen synthesis and sweet almond oil to soften and regenerate, Body Milk has a great mix of ingredients. I found that it soothed my skin as soon as I applied it and over the last few weeks has made a noticeable difference. I haven’t been applying it daily (due to earlier mention of being lazy!) but even with doing it only 3 or 4 times a week my skin is so nourished and much less flaky. My legs are always the worst and even they’re looking much smoother. This is definitely a product that I’d purchase after this one has run out.
I’ve been really impressed with the Gallinee products that I’ve tried and they’ve been a great new discovery for me. There was a mini hand cream and face cream in this month’s Love Lula box too, that are also really lovely products. I’d say that they’re in the middle price bracket with the Face Mask & Scrub at £17.90 and the Body Milk at £27.90. They’re not too expensive for the quality of product you’re getting and they will last you a long time too. I’d definitely recommend you checking them out next time you’re browsing Love Lula.
