A Weekend in London ft. The Model Zone at London Fashion Week

The Model Zone 1

This post has been in the making for a while now and I’ve finally gotten around to finishing it off! It’s quite a bit longer than I intended so grab a cuppa and enjoy 🙂

Last month I was very kindly invited to go to The Model Zone in London for my Weleda facial and massage prize after winning their Cleaner Beauty Blogger Competition. Weleda run The Model Zone for London Fashion Week where they pamper the models inbetween shows and fittings. This is the 11th year that Weleda have sponsored the official LFW zone and it was situated this year in a hotel right around the corner from Somerset House, for easy access for the models. Weleda have a team of beauty experts there to give revitalising treatments and massages along with natural skincare advice. There are also Weleda homeopaths onsite to provide holistic health consultations. The Model Zone is a strict no press/media area, so that the models can relax and unwind, knowing that they have complete privacy. They can book themselves in for a free Skin Food Facial, which is what I was lucky enough to win!

I arrived at The Model Zone just before 10am and met the lovely Nisha Jani who was my beauty expert for the morning. I was able to take a few photos to share with you guys, so you can see what The Model Zone is all about. Then it was up onto the bed for my massage. Nisha used the gorgeous Lavender Body Oil for my massage, which created a great, relaxing atmosphere. It was so nice to just unwind, whilst someone worked out all the tension in my body. Whilst I was having my massage Nisha chatted to me about any problem areas I had and concentrated on those for me – I’m quite a tense person in general and she noticed that straight away! She really worked her magic and by the end of the massage my body felt light as air and so relaxed. After the massage I then had my Skin Food Facial, which was amazing! I’ve decided that I’m not going to tell you all the steps, as I don’t want to spoil it if you decide to go for one yourself – which you totally should – but I’ll tell you a little bit about it.

I’d left my make up off that morning which meant Nisha could get stuck straight in with my facial. She cleansed my face first of all and then used a thick layer of skin food to do the massage. It’s so underestimated how great a facial can make you feel! It’s so relaxing having someone massage your face for 30 minutes and afterwards I felt pretty tired, but in a good way! To finish off Nisha applied the Aknedoron Purifying Lotion to my blemishes (and she taught me the best way to use this too) and then some Almond Facial Cream. Throughout the massage and facial Nisha gave me some great tips on how to use the products and some different uses for them too! I really learnt how to get the most out of each one and her tips were invaluable. She really is a beauty expert and I was so lucky to be able to meet her and learn from her. Once I’d had my facial I was then shown around the lounge, where the models can have a cup of tea and chat with other models. The lounge is strictly models only, so I was super lucky to be allowed to have a look around. It’s such a chilled out space and is a great idea for the models to have some downtime. Weleda really do look after them throughout a very busy fashion week! The models also receive a Weleda goody bag to take away too, so that they can pamper themselves at home as well. I had to use a stock photo for the goody bag as I dived straight into mine as soon as I got home!

As my appointment was early on Sunday Weleda very kindly put me up in a hotel for the Saturday night, so that I didn’t have to rush around too much in the morning. I took Anthony with me and we made the most of the weekend. On Saturday we had a little wander round London and then ended up in a cute little pub to watch the Liverpool match with a few drinks and some food. I had vegan fish and chips and it was delicious, even though the edges of the ‘fish’ were a little burnt! We then went and checked in to The Megaro Hotel, which is a luxurious boutique hotel, just across the road from King’s Cross Station. We had a lovely room, with a view of King’s Cross and an amazing waterfall shower! The bed was super comfortable and it was the best night’s sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel 🙂 The staff were really friendly and helpful and if you stay you should definitely get the breakfast. I had the avocado and eggs on toast and the granola with fruit and they were both magnificent – I could easily eat it every morning and never get bored!

On the Sunday after my facial I met back up with Anthony and we decided to visit the British Museum. We’ve been before but it was around 7 years ago, or maybe more, so we thought we’d refresh our memories and see what was new. We had a great afternoon wandering around all the different exhibitions and I’d definitely say it’s one of my favourite things to do in London. After that it was time to catch the train home.

We had a great weekend in London and it was really nice to get some time away. Both Anthony and I were really busy with work the couple of weeks before the trip, so it was lovely to get some down time together. I loved my massage and facial so much and it was such an amazing experience. Weleda are such a great brand and it was nice to see how they pamper the models and really make the effort to help them relax whilst they are so busy working. Thank you so much to Weleda for such a great prize and a lovely time!
