I’ve decided against doing an October Monthly Musings post as not a lot happened last month, apart from my birthday which was a low key event anyway. I’ve got quite a few posts to get up this month too, so I thought I’d dive straight into those instead.
A few weeks ago Lucky Cloud Skincare very kindly sent me a couple of their products to try out. Lucky Cloud Skincare is a natural, cruelty free, vegan skincare company based in Edinburgh. It was founded in 2015 by Lucy Cardwell after he own struggles with skin conditions and trying to find something that would suit her sensitive skin. All of their products are made in small batches, using raw, plant-based materials. Their products are all super nourishing and soothing for the skin and they are all handmade in their Edinburgh workshop. I love that all of their packaging is 100% recyclable, which is so important right now. I’m really trying to look into the packaging of my skincare lately and trying to reduce the impact I’m having on the planet with plastic, so Lucky Cloud is a great place to start!
I was very kindly sent the Soothing Super Balm * and Nourishing Face Oil * to test out and share with you guys. First up is the Nourishing Face Oil. I’ve been super impressed with this – it’s everything I look for in an oil. It has a nourishing blend of vitamin and omega rich plant oils blended with coenzyme Q10 to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Rosehip Seed and Evening Primrose oils are included to aid skin rejuvenation and Jojoba, Avocado, Kiwi Seed and Rice Bran oils soften skin and reduce any redness. I can vouch that this oil does all of the above (apart from I can’t comment on the wrinkles and fine lines claim, as I don’t have many of those yet) and more for me. I’ve always struggled with redness and dry skin and it always gets so much worse in the winter months. I used this twice a day every day and after only a week I could already see results. It’s super moisturising and has kept my dry skin at bay really easily. My skin can be quite dehydrated but I’ve noticed that when I was using this it was so much brighter and radiant. I used this underneath a moisturiser but it’s so nourishing that you could use it on it’s own. The plant oils and fats create a lovely rich oil that is such a pleasure to use – I like to take a couple of minutes and really work in into my skin with a little facial massage. After a few weeks of use my skin looks nourished, supple and glowing earning itself a prime position in my skincare routine.
The Soothing Super Balm is an amazing multi use product. It contains Sweet Almond Oil to soften, Evening Primrose Oil to prevent skin from drying out and Shea Butter and Cocoa Butter to protect and moisturise. Lavender and Rose Geranium Essential Oils have been added to create a calming effect and help to rebalance sebum whilst promoting circulation. I’ve found so many uses for this it’s incredible! I’ve used it on dry or hard skin (of course!), I’ve used it on my scalp (which I always struggle with), I’ve used it on the ends of my hair as a mask before washing it off in the shower and the best use I’ve personally found for it is actually as a make up primer! As mentioned above I have dry skin and I found that putting this over any dry patches before applying my foundation really helped to moisturise them and stop make up from clinging. I’ve found this better than any primer I’ve tried before and it’s my go to tip to get make up to sit nicely now. A little really does go a long way with this and I’ve hardly made a dent in it so far. It also smells amazing and I’ve taken to rubbing some into my temples whenever I feel stressed or wound up – the scent really helps to calm my mind and bring everything back into perspective. I’m thinking of investing in the smaller size, so that I can take it everywhere with me in my handbag! 🙂
I’ve been so impressed with Lucky Cloud Skincare. I’d previously tried their Vanilla Lip Butter and I love that so I had an inkling that I would like their products, but I’m still surprised by how much I love them! They have both become staples in my skincare routine now and I will definitely be repurchasing once I run out. Although I don’t think that will be any time soon as they are both lasting me ages, especially the balm. At £21.00 for the Nourishing Face Oil and £17.00 for the Soothing Super Balm, both products are amazing value for money – I can see the balm lasting for months! Such great products, all packaged in 100% recyclable packaging. What more could you want from your skincare?
