I’ve received the Love Lula Beauty Box * for over a year now and I thought it was time that I started to review them for you guys so you can see what’s in them. These posts will be a first impressions and an overview. It costs £14.95 a month for 4 or 5 products, which is a bargain considering the quality of the products. They are usually a mix of sample sizes and full size and the value of the box is always much more than the price you pay. I’ve only ever had a couple of boxes that I didn’t like, but not everyone is going to be happy with every box, so a couple in over a years’ worth isn’t too bad. So onto February’s box.
PHB Ethical Beauty Gentle Moisturiser * – £20.00
I really love this product. I’ve only used it for a week or so, but I’m already really happy with it. I’ve tried quite a few of PHB Ethical Beauty’s products and haven’t been disappointed yet! This is one of their products with the new packaging and I’m very impressed – it’s really luxurious and sleek. This is a lightweight moisturiser, perfect for everyday. I’ve taken to using it in the morning as the last step in my skincare routine. It’s lightweight and easy to sink in, but it also feels really hydrating on my skin. I’ve found it makes a great base for makeup too.
Seascape Island Apothecary Soothe Sleep Oil * – £10.00
When I first saw this I thought I was going to love it. However, it’s not as good as I expected it to be. The scent is really lovely and the oil isn’t too thick, so it’s still okay to use on your skin without it breaking you out. The thing is that the scent doesn’t last very long. I apply this to my temples and a bit under my nose at night and within a couple of minutes I can’t smell it anymore. I’ve had sleep products before and usually they last a good 10 minutes or so and I can still smell them as I drift off, but not this one. It’s a shame as I wanted to love this but it just wasn’t good enough for me.
Crazy Rumors Hot Cocoa Lip Balm * – £3.99
By far my favourite product of this box. I love a good lip balm, especially during the winter months when my lips get dry and cracked. This one went straight on my lips as soon as I opened the box! It’s really nourishing and makes my lips super soft. I also love that it also has a slight sheen to it, so it looks as if I have a subtle lip gloss on. Hot Cocoa is such a divine smell that I sometimes like to use it just so I can smell it again! I’ve been using this for over a week now and my lips are in great condition. I’m really interested in trying out more of their products now – I’ve got my eye on the tinted lip balms!
Balm Balm Fragrance Free Face Balm * – £9.50
This is an underwhelming product for me. There have been a few of these in the Beauty Boxes in the past and I just don’t really have a use for them. They’re too thick to use as a moisturiser and are more like an oily balm for really dry skin. However I don’t get that much dry skin on my face and I personally find it too oily for my face. These could be used elsewhere on the body and I like to use these for my feet. They do soften my heels very well. I just have quite a few of these now and I’d like to see something different in the boxes.
Walden ‘A Gentle Rain’ Perfume Oil * – £17.00
Whenever I see Walden packaging in a box, I know I’ll love it. Walden do some great perfumes and the little oil roll ons are amazing! This is quite a strong musky scent, so I don’t think everyone will like it but I personally think it smells lovely. The roll ons are great for every day as they are easy to put in your bag and reapply. They seem to last much longer too – I think it’s them being oil based and sticking to the skin more. A Gentle Rain is great for every day wear but I do wish I could find something more florally and light for special occasions.
Overall a mixed bag of products this month. I know I said that 2 products didn’t wow me, but I’d still say this is one of my favourite boxes as the other products are AMAZING! Of course, you’re never going to please everyone but overall the Love Lula Beauty Boxes do have a good reputation in the green beauty community. I know quite a few people that love these boxes.
There is always a nice variation of products in each box, although I personally would like to see some more makeup items. This box is such great value for money and is one of the cheaper green beauty subscription boxes on the market. You can subscribe monthly so that you can cancel anytime, but Love Lula also do deals over 3, 6 and 12 months that would save you money in the long run – click here to see the offers.
