Welcome to a new series: Wedding Worthy Makeup

Wedding Worthy Makeup

Today I’m introducing you to a new series I’ll be running on my blog over the next few months. I asked over on Twitter and Instagram (you can follow me here and here) whether people would be interested in a series on green beauty products that would be wedding worthy (hence the title!). I got a resounding yes, with only two people saying no, so I thought that was a good enough reason to go ahead.

I’ve been thinking about what to do about my wedding make up for a little while now. I enquired with Mel at Glow Organic, who do wedding make up, but as they’re based in Brighton it was a little too expensive for what I could afford – if you’re near Brighton though definitely check them out! So I’ve decided to do my own make up. This did bring on a little episode of feeling overwhelmed though, as I was trying to think of what products to use that would be best.

Even though I have some lovely natural make up I don’t think I’ve got quite what I’m looking for yet. Natural makeup, although great for most situations, doesn’t seem to have the high performance that I’m after when I have a special occasion to go to. The foundations that I’ve tried so far lack the high coverage and long lasting performance I’m after and that’s probably the area that I’m struggling with the most.

So over the next few months I’m going to research and try out a few different products, in the hopes of finding the best products in all categories. Obviously I won’t be trying every single product in the world, but I’ve had my eye on a few bits that I think I’ll finally take the plunge and buy. I want to look my best at my wedding, so I don’t mind spending a little bit more. That’s not to say that it will all be expensive – if I can find a cheaper product that performs just as well then I will. In fact, I think I’m pretty happy with my eyebrow product already and that’s less than a fiver!! One ticked off the list!

I’m going to write a post per area of makeup (foundation, blush, lips, eyeshadow, eyeliner, etc) detailing what I’m testing, whether it fits with what I’m looking for, etc. If I find a new product for that area I’ll update you in a new post, but I’ll try and keep them together. I’ll link all the posts back to this one too, so that they can all be found super easily. Then once I’ve got married I’ll do a final post letting you know exactly what I used on the day. Sound good?

Hopefully this will help other brides looking for natural and organic wedding makeup, as when I was trying to search for some ideas the internet was lacking. So I thought why don’t I write my own! As a little disclaimer I am in no way an expert on makeup or green beauty and I’ll just be sharing my own experiences with products (as I always do on this blog), in the hopes that someone may find it useful. Even if you’re not getting married yourself you can still find products for any special occasions you might be going to: birthdays, prom, wedding – as a guest, movie premiere 😉

Also just to let you know I’m not sure that these will happen on a regular basis, for example, every 2 weeks. They will be more of an as and when series, so when I find something I want to share I will! However, I am hoping to have one ready for you in the next month or so. Keep your eyes peeled on Twitter and Instagram for updates because I always share my posts there. While you’re waiting have a think and let me know if there is anything specific that you’d like me to share and I’ll see if I can cover it for you.

Kayleigh x
