I love lip balms, so when I was offered to try this one from Bali Balm I jumped at the chance. Bali Balm is a cruelty free, vegan, luxury lip balm brand that sources 100% natural ingredients. They also support Bali based organisations including Project Clean Uluwatu and Mount Agung Relief. It’s always nice to see brands supporting charities, as it shows that they are happy to help others and not just a big corporation that only cares about money. They offer 4 different flavours that have been created with London chef Russell Bateman, including Bergamot & Grapefruit, Cinnamon & Burnt Orange, Lemon & Black Pepper and Sandalwood & Ginger. I was very kindly gifted the Bali Balm Cinnamon & Burnt Orange Lip Balm * from Love Lula and I’ve been trying it out for the past couple of weeks now.
I’ve been really impressed with this balm. First of all the packaging is gorgeous – it’s super luxurious with a cardboard sleeve and it’s own little gift box. The gift box is such a nice addition and really creates a superior looking product. This would make a great present for someone. Unfortunately the gift box isn’t recyclable as far as I can see, but it’s so well made that Bali Balm encourage you to re-use this for earrings or cuff links or any other small bits that you need to store. I personally plan on keeping some of my tumblestone crystals in there. The tubes on the other hand are 100% recyclable, which is always a good thing! The tubes are small and green, making them great for both men and women to use.
Onto the actual product. The smell of this is amazing! It smells exactly like it says on the package – kind of like a cinnamon bun with a hint of orange. So dreamy! It doesn’t smell artificial though and it isn’t too overwhelming. The smell does wear off after a while, which is a shame for me as I quite like it! It includes Coconut Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Candelilla Wax, Kukui Nut Oil, Sugarcane Extract, Orange Peel Oil, Cinnamon Cassia Oil, Peppermint Leaf Oil, Rosemary Extract, Wheat Germ Oil, Vanilla Fruit Extract. As a balm this must be one of the best lip balms I’ve tried to be honest. It’s super nourishing and my lips feel so soft once it’s sunk in. It’s thick enough to provide protection against any windy days but still comfortable to wear and I like that it gives my lips a slight sheen too. When applied I find that it gives a slight tingling sensation, which I think must come from the Peppermint Oil, that brings blood to my lips to make them look fuller and plumper. This was a nice little added bonus for me, as I always like my lips to look as full as possible. I also find it’s great for under lipstick.
At £20 it is pretty expensive for a lip balm, but with the luxurious product and packaging I can see why it’s that bit more. It is a superb lip balm though and while I couldn’t justify repurchasing at that price (there are products that still do the job for a fraction of the price), if you’ve got the money then I’d definitely recommend it. You can pick it up here from Love Lula.
