New Oilixia Supersize Gummy Facial Cleanser from Rare Beauty / AD

This post contains gifted items from Rare Beauty which have been marked with *. The company has provided them for review but have not had any control of this post. All opinions are 100% my own.

Today I’m sharing a new cleanser with you. I’ve seen Oilixia popping up on social media and heard of their products, but haven’t tried any before. A couple of weeks ago Rare Beauty got in touch with me to see if I wanted to try the new Supersize Gummy Facial Cleanser * so I agreed and I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now.

Oilixia was founded by Alexandra Janson when she learned the value of powerful oils and extracts whilst on her travels to over 50 countries. After discovering their beauty enhancing benefits to local cultures she was inspired to use that knowledge to create products for everyone. Oilixia is a British based company who specialise in small batch production of globally-sourced natural ingredients. The nut and seed oils they use are all cold-pressed to ensure potency and their oils are chosen based on richness in antioxidants so that they don’t need artificial preservatives. Due to Alexandra’s love for travel all the products are under 100ml, to make them easy to pick up and go. Except for one …

Let me introduce to you the new Supersize Gummy Facial Cleanser *! This is the first product over 100ml to be released by Oilixia. Personally I like cleansers to be quite big as these are the products I run out of the quickest and this is a great size. Now, this looks as if it’s plastic packaging, but it’s not! The tube is made from eco-plastic derived from sustainable harvested Brazilian sugarcane – how cool is that?! The sugarcane is a by-product of the sugar industry and is carbon negative. I’m not 100% sure what the cap is made of but it can be recycled along with the tube, so make sure you do! I’m also absolutely in love with the colour 😊. It looks so pretty in my bathroom!

The main thing that makes this stand out is the texture. It’s called a gummy cleanser and that’s a pretty good description really. I would say it’s like a springy gel. I’ve never used anything like it before and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. It’s leading the way for future cleansers with such an innovative design and I wonder if we will see more cleansers like this emerge in the future. The springy texture seems as if it wouldn’t rub into the skin very well, but somehow it does. It takes a couple of times to get used to the texture, as it creates a sort of sticky, sucking action as you’re rubbing it in (which is meant to help pull impurities out of the skin) but after the initial application it’s actually quite therapeutic massaging it in at the end of a long day. I apply it all over my face and then either wash it off with water or take it off with a damp flannel. I actually love that I can just wash this off with water, as I can use it in the shower when I don’t always have a flannel with me. Balms and oils are nice, but once you’ve massaged them in and then realise you don’t have a flannel they’re a nightmare!

It’s ingredients boasts wild harvested Kakadu Plum Extract which is a natural source of vitamin C and is also rich in phenolic acid, to brighten the skin and smooth it’s texture. Macadamia Oil and Eucalyptus Oil are included to clean the skin whilst also nourishing it. I’ve used this for a couple of weeks now and I love the way it makes my skin feel – soft, supple and clean. It’s one of the most moisturizing cleansers I’ve ever used, which I love because it means the rest of my skincare sits really well on my skin. I have used this to remove my make up a couple of times and whilst it does remove most of it, there is still some make up residue left behind. Therefore I like to use this either in the morning or when I haven’t got any make up on, as a gentle cleanse. Another way I like to use it is as a mask and exfoliator – it has natural AHA’s from the Kakadu Plum Extract, acting as an exfoliator. You leave a thin layer on for 5 to 10 minutes then massage it in and rinse it off with water.

This is a great all-rounder product for me and I’ve been really impressed. It leaves me with such beautiful skin and I’m in love with how soft it feels after I’ve used this. I’ve only used it for a couple of weeks, so can’t comment on the long term effects yet, but my skin seems to be liking it so far! You can pick it up from Rare Beauty here for £30 (which is a bargain as the 75ml is £24!) – it will sell out fast so be quick!
