This month I very kindly got sent Alexa Sky Botanicals’ newest launch product, the Reishi Pore Refiner * to try. This is their new exfoliator that aims to improve the look of skin’s texture to reveal healthy, smooth, soft and radiant skin. I’ve had a bout of dry skin lately and have been really trying to exfoliate more, so this came just at the right time! As soon as it landed on my doorstep I dived straight in and haven’t looked back since.
The Reishi Pore Refiner * has Rhassoul clay to extract impurities from the skin, dead sea salt to improve the quality of the skin and help the skin to retain moisture, vitamin C to boost skin’s collagen production, marshmallow extract to balance skin and turmeric extract for it’s anti-inflammatory properties. It also has NO microbeads, which I always love to hear about my products! Reishi mushroom (the ingredient that the product gets it’s name from) is a superpower extract that contains a high content of polysaccharides – these are responsible for the skin’s natural ability to hydrate and retain water, which helps with skin repair and renewal. It also helps to reduce skin inflammation, puffiness, wrinkles and free radical damage and helps to promote cell regeneration. Reishi translates to ‘spiritual potency’ and is known as the herb of immortality in Chinese medicine.
Exfoliation is so important for our skin and has a whole load of benefits. I always find that my other skincare products sink in much better and work more efficiently when I keep up with a good exfoliation routine, due to them being able to work on new skin instead of dead cells. I’ve only used this a couple of times, as it’s not recommend to use more than twice a week, but I’ve had good results from it already. I mix it with a little bit of water and scrub it on my whole face to remove any dead skin cells and impurities. I feel like I have completely new skin after I’ve used this. It feels fresh, smooth and radiant and looks like my skin is actually glowing!
It is quite an intense exfoliation so if you prefer something a bit finer and more gentle then this may not be for you. The effects are immediate and you can see a difference straight away – I love products like this as it makes me much more enthusiastic about using them. I’m finding myself really looking forward to the night that I can use this each week. It is a little messy, just like with all powder products but after a couple of uses you get used to it. You can use this up to twice a week if you want to, depending on your skin type, but I like to stick to once as I can have quite sensitive skin. You can also mix a small amount with probiotic yoghurt and use this more often, but I personally like to use it with water. I am a little gutted that I can’t use it more often with water, due to my skin, but I know when to limit myself with exfolitaion and I like to use it mainly before the weekend so my face is fresh and glowing for whatever events I have planned.
You can pick up the Reishi Pore Refiner * from Alexa Sky Botanicals here and they have free delivery next week (13th June – 19th June) with the code TRAVELFRIENDLY, so make sure you take advantage of that too!
