I very kindly received a few products from Love Lula this month to try and thought that I would do a round up and some mini reviews as a little change. Usually I do single reviews on products, but I’m looking at switching things up a little on here and thought I’d do a few different posts as a little change.
I picked 2 of these products with my Love Lula Approved Blogger points this month and I was also sent a couple of extra products to try and I’ve been really impressed with them all. The Ren products I picked out, as I love REN and I really wanted to try some more of their stuff. The Dafna’s and Inika products were the extra products I requested – I’m really into my cleansers at the moment (just in case you couldn’t tell, as there are 2 in this post!) and I love a nice bronzer for summer. I’ve been trying them all for a couple of weeks now and I’ve put my first impressions below.
REN ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser * – £22.00
I’ve had a few breakouts recently and whenever this happens I like to pull out the products that are targeted at blemishes. This is one of those products, so I thought I’d give it a try. It’s an antibacterial cleanser that aims to combat excess sebum, build up of dead skin and blemish causing bacteria, without being drying or harsh.
I like to use this in the morning mainly to get rid of any dirt and grime that’s built up in my skin overnight. I massage it all in to dry skin with my fingers and then wash it off with water – no flannel needed. I love to have a light cleanser for the morning as it’s easy to get off and leaves my skin feeling really clean and refreshed. I have used this at night as a second cleanse too and it’s removed any residue of make up/first cleanse really easily.
As for long term effects I can’t say but I will say that since using this my blemishes have settled down a bit. I have mixed in a few other products too so can’t for sure say it’s completely down to this but it definitely seems to have helped.
REN Satin Perfection BB Cream * – £31.00
This has fast become a new favourite of mine! It comes out a little on the pink side, but the colour adapting technology really does work. I have quite warm toned skin so anything pink toned doesn’t usually blend well for me, but this adjusts to my warmer skin tone brilliantly. It’s not as greasy as other BB creams I’ve used, so it lasts much longer than most and it sits really well on the skin to create a lovely, light base.
My favourite way to use this is as a base for foundation. As a BB cream it’s good, but doesn’t have a lot of coverage for me so I would only wear this on a really good skin day. But as a base for foundation, it’s amazing! I apply this after my SPF and rub it into my skin. I especially focus on any areas with redness/blemishes, then once I’ve applied my foundation over the top it hides a multitude of sins! Seriously, this is a miracle worker. My base has never looked so good since using this underneath my foundation.
Dafna’s Skincare Purify Cleanser * – £36.00
This is a gel cleanser that actually reminds me a lot of the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. It’s a similar texture in that it’s sort of a cross between a balm and a gel and it melts into the skin when warmed with fingers. It removes most make up really easily (waterproof mascara it struggles with a little, but I always remove that first anyway) and easily washes off with water. I’ve been favouring cleansers that wash off with water a lot as the warmer weather has started, because they’re lightweight and don’t clog my pores.
I love the packaging of this too. The black glass means that the product doesn’t deteriorate inside and it looks really sleek in my bathroom too. There was a mini version of this included in this month’s Love Lula Beauty Box, so if you get that then you’ll be lucky enough to be able to try this this month too.
Inika Loose Mineral Bronzer in Sunlight * – £23.00
Summer is the perfect time for bronzer. For years I was actually scared of using bronzer over my whole face and just used it to contour but as I’ve got a bit older I’ve developed a bit of a knack for adding it to my whole face without having orange patches! I find that the key is to tap ALL the excess off the brush and only have the tiniest amount of product on at a time – I find that I can get a nice even coverage this way without too much product is one place.
This one from Inika is a dream! I was a bit skeptical at first, as I wasn’t sure if this had any shimmer in it but it seems to be a matte bronzer??? I don’t like shimmer in my bronzers so this is perfect for me. It warms up my face perfectly without being too warm toned – great for when I’ve got fake tan on and need my face to match (I never put fake tan on my face). Sunlight is perfect for pale skin like mine and adds such a subtle wash of colour that looks super natural.
These four products all have safe places in my routine now and aren’t going to get evicted any time soon (I’ve clearly been watching Love Island too much!). I think the combination of the skincare products has definitely been helping my skin with it’s troublesome period, as it’s getting much better now and the bronzer has come at the perfect time for summer. What products are you loving right now?
