Scottish Fine Soaps Review / AD

This post contains gifted items from Scottish Fine Soaps which have been marked with *. The company have provided them for review but have not had any control of this post. All opinions are 100% my own.

A few weeks ago I was very kindly sent some products to try from Scottish Fine Soaps. Before they got in touch with me I hadn’t heard of their brand, however a quick look through their website revealed a lovely brand that had some gorgeous looking products. I requested a few to try and within a couple of days I had an amazing parcel through the door.

Scottish Fine Soaps are a family owned business that manufacture 99.5% of their products in their Scotland site, near the Ochil Hills. It was founded 45 years ago and has gone down through 4 generations of the family. Their products are all cruelty free and they use quality derived ingredients that contain no parabens or microbeads.

Sea Kelp – Marine Spa Range

I was first drawn to their Sea Kelp range, which is scented with their popular coastal fragrance. I looked through the products and couldn’t resist picking up the Bath & Shower Oil * and the Smoothing Body Polish *.

The Bath and Shower Oil is something that I don’t see a lot of in the beauty world. I think I’ve only used one shower oil before and that was years ago, so I was intrigued by this one. I suffer with very dry skin in the winter and I thought that this would be perfect to combat this. After the first use I fell in love! It’s nice that I can start my moisturising in the shower and it still left me feeling clean. It does take a little getting used to the texture as it doesn’t wash off 100%, but that’s the point. It leaves my skin nourished and smooth and means that I only need to use a small bit of moisturiser aftwewards.

The Smoothing Body Polish pairs amazingly with this. I needed a new body scrub and this one is great! It’s a nice texture – not too harsh on the skin, but also harsh enough that you can feel it working. It leaves me with fresh, slightly pink skin (I rub quite hard whenever I use a scrub!) that is silky soft. The perfect scrub. Both these products also smell amazing! They remind me of being by the sea when I was a little girl.

Body Moisturisers

Sticking with the body care theme, I also chose two body moisturisers to try. I wanted to try and nice range of their products, so chose these from two of their other ranges.

The Coconut & Lime Coconut Oil Body Butter * caught my eye immediately as I’m a sucker for anything that smells like coconut. Coconut and Lime sounds even better! I love that this is a thick butter that really moisturises the skin – once again perfect for this time of year with the cold weather. Even though it’s thicker than a traditional body cream it doesn’t take too long to sink in and it softens my skin so much better. I’ve been using this on my newist tattoo (after it had initially healed) and it’s been keeping it in great condition.

The other body cream I picked up is the La Paloma Shimmering Body Lustre * How luxurious is this? It reminded me of the 1920’s when people would buy expensive creams and display them on their dressing tables. Such gorgeous packaging. And the product inside is just as good too. This is more of a cream, so more lightweight than the body butter but it has tiny shimmer particles in it. This is a product that I’m going to keep for nights out when I want to add an extra something and make myself sparkle. It adds just a hint of sparkle and isn’t glittery at all, so it still makes you look sophisticated. It moisturises well too, but personally I’ll be using it for the sparkle!

Don’t forget the hands!

The last product I picked up was the Oatmeal Hand and Nail Cream * which is actually sold out at the moment. With good reason too, as it’s a lovely hand cream. I can never have too many hand creams, but I find it hard to get one that’s just right. I don’t like hand creams to be too sticky or greasy and they have to sink in quickly too, and I’m happy to report that this one ticks all those boxes. It has a pleasant smell to it that isn’t overpowering and leaves my hands nourished and soft within a couple of minutes.

Thank you very much to Scottish Fine Soaps for sending my some goodies to ensure that my skin is in it’s best condition throughout the winter. I love all of these products and I’m so happy that I got the chance to test them out. I now feel smooth and sily all over and I have these products to thank for that. Go and check out their website and let me know what you fancy trying!
