I was very kindly sent this Sleep Master Sleep Mask * to review last week. As most of you will know our bedroom is so bright, as we only have white blinds up, so I’m always looking for a good sleep mask that blocks out light. I like my room to be pitch black when I sleep as it’s what I’m used to from a kid and if there’s even the tiniest shred of light then I find it hard to sleep. So when I was asked if I’d like to try this then I jumped at the chance. I’ve tried several sleep masks before and even though I use them, I haven’t found one that has been 100% right for me.
Sleep Master was created by Marc and Cynthia Callendar after Marc was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. He struggled for years to sleep until one night on a skiing trip with their small children playing around, he pulled a neck gator over his head and had a really good nights sleep. This made him realise how to make a great sleep mask and they set out to create one. And so the Sleep Master Sleep Mask was born. They are all handmade in the United States, using quality materials. The masks are made from a soft satin fabric that is breathable and flexible, providing a comfortable mask that is also hypoallergenic.
The mask itself is great! I’ve used this for a few nights now to get a general feel for it and I’ve loved it. It does block out light pretty much 100% and creates a nice dark atmosphere for you to sleep in. I’ve had a few really good night’s sleep in this and I wake up really refreshed in the morning. I was a little worried about the satin at first as I thought it might make my face sweat but luckily it doesn’t and it actually keeps my pretty cool.
It’s so comfortable to wear and will fit easily on anyone due to the adjustable velcro straps. The fact that it’s adjustable is one of my favourite features as I’ve bought sleep masks before that are too tight or too loose and then I can’t use them. This is always going to be the perfect fit.
I do find that if I don’t do it tight enough it sometimes slips off my head – I think because it’s satin and I do toss and turn a lot in bed! But it’s easy enough to just slip back on and go back to sleep. I only noticed a small difference with the noise cancelling but noise doesn’t really affect me when I sleep and I don’t live in a very noisy area either luckily. Mine did come with ear plugs though, so if you do suffer from noisy neighbours then it might be best to get the Deluxe set which has them in.
This would make a great gift for Valentine’s Day, whether it’s to help sleep or as a blindfold(!) – whatever you’re into is fine! I would also highly recommend this as a Mother’s Day gift though too. For a busy mum, it’s perfect for her to take some time to unwind and then get a few hours of decent sleep in too. Especially for mums with young kids as they need all the extra help they can get!
Thank you to Sleep Master for letting me try one of their Sleep Masks and share it with you all. I love it and think it’s perfect for light sleepers. I think I’m even going to take this on holiday with me next time and use it on the plane!
