Just as we went into lockdown I had a very exciting email from Antipodes asking if they could send me a self care package with two of their new products in, to cheer us up in these uncertain times. Now, that’s doing marketing correctly! I’ve used Antipodes products before and have always been impressed with them, so I jumped at the chance to try something new. I couldn’t quite believe that they had got in touch to work with me to be honest, so their email really made my day!
When it arrived it was in the cutest package and included lipsticks as well as a moisturiser and eye cream. I love a good lipstick so excitement levels were at an all time high! The package itself included the new Baptise H2O Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel *, new Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream * and 2 of the Moisture-Boost Natural Lipsticks in Queenstown Hot Chocolate * and Forest Berry Red *. All of these products are certified vegetarian by the UK Vegetarian Society. The moisturiser and the eye cream come in recyclable glass jars and the cardboard packaging is 100% biodegradable and made from sustainable forests.
The new Baptise gel is a lightweight, intensive moisturiser that provides deep hydration with an easily absorbed gel. I’ve been using this ever since it arrived, so for around 6 weeks now and I’m loving it. My skin can be quite dry so I was a bit dubious as to how moisturising this would be on me as it’s so lightweight. The gel texture is very thin and sometimes products like these just sink straight in like water and don’t actually do anything. This one however, is really nourishing for my skin. It does sink in quickly but it’s also got quite a thick consistency for a gel.
The plant-based hyaluronic acid is included to lock in moisture to the skin and manuka honey is used to promote youthful, blemish free skin. It’s a great everyday moisturiser for the morning as it leaves a lovely base to apply make up over and it sinks in quickly. My skin feels soothed and protected once I have this on. I feel like this is perfect for summer as it’s cooling on the skin and not heavy. I suppose you could keep it in the fridge too so that’s it’s super cold and calming.
Next is the new Kiwi Seed Gold Luminous Eye Cream aims to illuminate the under eye area by including 23K gold flakes to give a warm glow and bring calm to stressed areas of skin. It also includes kiwi seed oil to improve elasticity and reduce fine lines and Vinanza Grape & Kiwi to target redness and pigmentation. I’ve tried a few products with gold in before and find that they’ve generally had a good effect on my skin. I’ve been using this everyday too and find that it sinks in quickly and doesn’t leave any residue behind – this is crucial for eye creams for me as if it leaves even the slightest bit of product on my eyes then it accentuates my wrinkles and my make up sits in the creases. I’m glad to say that this one doesn’t do that though. I’ve found that since using this my under eye area has brightened up a lot, although with being furloughed that could be in part because I’ve been sleeping for longer too. This is the only thing I’ve been using on my eyes though, so the cream is definitely contributing to that and making my skin really supple too.
Lipsticks are probably my favourite make up item, so I was super excited to try these out. The Queenstown Hot Chocolate looked a bit too brown toned for me in the bullet, but once I applied it it turned out to be a lovely neutral pinky shade. I love how this perfects my lips without making it obvious that I’m wearing lipstick – the ultimate my lips but better shade. I’ve loved wearing this around the house to give myself a little boost and make me feel just a little put together.
The Forest Berry Red is a beautiful true red, so will suit most skintones. I love a true red, especially for a special occasion. It makes my teeth look whiter and gives me a gorgeous smile – I’m very impressed with this one. I’ve tried this out for a day around the house and it lasts pretty well. I had to reapply after eating but other than that it stayed really well. The Queenstown Hot Chocolate also stayed on well until I ate anything. I’d have to give them a proper try in my normal day to day life to comment on the lasting power properly, but so far I’m impressed.
The Moisture-Boost Natural Lipsticks include lots of natural, healthy ingredients and they’ve given them the tagline: I’m so healthy, you could almost eat me. They do have a pretty incredible list of ingredients including avocado oil which is packed with essential fats to increase collagen production and keep lips dewy and fresh, calendula oil for it’s anti-inflammatory properties, evening primrose oil which is rich in healthy fats and argan oil to balance oil production and hydrate lips. With beeswax, shea butter, jojoba oil and vitamin E you can be assured that your lips will be super nourished while being given a lovely pop of colour.
I’ve loved trying these out and the skincare especially have become staples in my routine. I posted my morning routine featuring both of them over on my IGTV here, so go check that out to see them in action. I honestly can’t rave about them enough! I also can’t wait for everything to get back to normal, so that I can wear my lipsticks out of the house. I’m still wearing them inside for now and I’ve worn Queenstown Hot Chocolate to the food shop, but I can’t wait to take Forest Berry Red out on the town 🙂
Antipodes do some amazing products and I love that they’re an all natural brand. They have the air of luxury about their products and I always feel super fancy when I have them in my beauty line up. Their packaging is beautiful and I get so much joy from using their skincare knowing that the product inside is also beautiful. I’d recommend checking them out if you haven’t already and let me know what you pick up.
A huge thank you to Antipodes for my lovely self care package and for putting a huge smile on my face during this worrying time.
