My Favourite Beauty Discoveries from Lockdown

This post contains gifted items which have been marked with *. The companies have provided them for review in another post but I’ve included them in this post out of my own choice. All opinions are 100% my own.

I’ve found quite a few holy grail beauty products whilst we’ve been in lockdown. I’ve had more time to experiment with products whilst we’ve been off and I’ve been taking a few minutes both morning and night to really enjoy my skincare routines. Usually I just quickly slap on some products as I’m in a rush or too tired to really think about it. But with some extra time on my hands I’ve really taken the time to massage products in and to enjoy using the products.

All of my new found favourites are skincare at the moment, as I didn’t wear make up for around 3 months. I am slowly getting back into wearing make up now though, so I’ll be featuring more make up on here soon.

The first product I want to mention is the Antipodes Baptise H2O Ultra-Hydrating Water Gel *. I did a full review of this here, but as a small summary I love it! It’s so hydrating on the skin and sinks in straight away due to the lightweight gel texture. It’s perfect for underneath SPF too, as it doesn’t leave a thick layer on the skin. I feel like people with oily skin would love this, as it’s not thick and doesn’t sit on the skin.

Another Antipodes product that I’ve been loving is the Hallelujah Lime & Patchouli Cleanser & Makeup Remover * This is great for a light morning cleanse and I love that it can be washed off just with water. Sometimes I like to use a flannel too but it’s really not necessary. It removes my face make up really well at night and leaves me with clean and clear skin, that’s ready for the rest of my routine.

The last Antipodes product I want to mention is the Delight Hand & Body Cream *. I’ve been lucky enough to try a few of their products over this lockdown and I’ve loved them all, so it’s been hard trying to pick my favourites. But I had to include this one! I always forget to use hand cream but with being at home I’ve used it so much more and my hands have thanked me for it. I’ve been using this for a few weeks and my hands are super soft and my tattoos look like new again. I’ve been using this on my arm tattoos too and it makes them so bright! It also smells divine!

Lumene is a brand that I have become obsessed with over lockdown. I saw Victoria from In The Frow feature their products on her channel a lot and I’ve wanted to pick something up for ages. So I finally took the plunge and ordered a few bits. The Lumene Invisible Illumination Instant Glow Fresh Skin Tint is a gem that has been making me feel much more human around the house. It’s a tinted moisturiser, but leaves a good bit of colour on the skin. I was surprised by how pigmented it was, as other tinted moisturisers tend to disappear into the skin. This one though has really good coverage and just makes my skin look better without covering it all up. Perfect for lazy days!

I found Literary Lip Balms on Instagram and instantly feel in love with their products. I double checked that they are cruelty free before buying anything and they are – which is great! They do the best products that are all based on famous books. I picked up the Dementor’s Kiss lip balm and the Vampire Slayer tinted lip balm. Both of these have been saving my lips over lockdown. Dementor’s Kiss has peppermint in it so I love the cooling feeling I get when wearing this. It also gives my lips a nice subtle bit of gloss too. Vampire Slayer is the perfect balm to give your lips a bit of colour when you can’t be bothered with lipstick. They also do other skincare too, like soaps and hand balms, which I’m desperate to pick up soon! They’re actually on a break right now, but will be back at the end of August, so keep your eyes peeled.

The last thing I’ve been loving is the Lani Tropical Body Oil * . As mentioned before I’ve had much more time lately to concentrate on my skin and my body has really felt the benefit of it. I’ve been trying to moisturise my arms and legs at least 3 times a week and this oil has been brilliant! I have super dry skin on my legs and this had taken care of that within 3 uses. Now the skin is smooth, supple and hydrated and doesn’t make me feel like a snake shedding it’s skin all the time! This body oil is definitely one I’d recommend for any skin type, but I will say to be careful getting it out of the bottle as I spilled some the first time I used it.

So they are some of the new beauty products I discovered in lockdown. I must say that lockdown was great for my skin and it’s looking so much better and healthier now. A break from wearing make up every day probably contributed to that too. I have started wearing make up again now that we can go out again and I’ve found a load of new make up that I’ve been loving, but I’ve got a whole post coming up about that towards the end of the month. It’s a good one so look out for it! I’ll link it here when it’s live.

  1. I’ve been wanting to try Lumene products for a while too. This post may have just pushed me over the edge to make a purchase haha!
